Apple makes a point of including the Apple H1 chip inside each ear cup of the AirPods Max. The company says this chip, combined with six external microphones and two internal microphones, monitors the fit and seal of the ear cushions, resulting in unparalleled noise cancellation. The AirPods Max also offer mixed results. They are the most luxurious, attractive, and well-made headphones I’ve ever seen, with a headband that reduces weight on the top of your head and makes them comfortable for long listening sessions.

Overall, the Sony WH-1000XM6 are hard to dislike. They’re incredibly comfortable to wear, and once again offer excellent noise cancellation technology and sound quality. These headphones aren’t perfect. They offer excellent customization, ease of use, and comfort, along with top-notch noise cancellation and powerful sound. It’ll likely remain near the top of our best headphones list for some time to come.

AirPods Pro? No Redmi Buds 5 Pro. It’s hard not to think of Apple headphones when looking at these new Xiaomi headphones, both in terms of design and in terms of the full range of features they offer given their price.

It’s worth the money: LDAC lossless audio, immersive sound, active noise cancellation, multipoint, IP54 and even dual sensors. The execution still needs to be as good as this feature richness. Since Xiaomi did not include a wireless charging system in this case, the USB-C port will be the only way to charge it. As you’d expect, the Sony WH-1000XM6 is definitely a fine successor to Sony’s other ANC headphones. It has excellent sound quality, superb ANC performance, and is capable of satisfying demanding users. However, the lack of advanced connectivity options may become an issue over time.

The Sony WH-1000XM6 does not have a water resistance rating, and the manual specifically highlights that the headphones are susceptible to moisture. While exercise won’t damage the headphones, you definitely shouldn’t wear them to places like Niagara Falls.

Beyond that, you can enable DSEE Extreme, a volume limiter, prioritize connection quality, and a host of features that only advanced users will use.

How long does theSony WH-1000XM6 batterylast?

In our standard battery test, the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones lasted 37 hours and 14 minutes, which is an admirable performance for a week’s worth of battery life or an intercontinental flight. That puts the Sony WH-1000XM6 firmly in the middle of the pack for top-tier active noise cancelling headphones, beating out the AirPods Max (20 hours), Bose QuietComfort Ultra (27+ hours), and Sony WH-1000XM5 headphone batteries (30 hours). In terms of charging options, the only way to charge the Sony WH-1000XM6 is through the USB-C port on the right ear cup. Sony claims you can get three hours of listening time from a three-minute charge, and while I haven’t specifically tested that claim, it doesn’t mean the battery capacity of the headphones themselves is huge. So even without fast charging, you can get a lot of playback time in a short amount of time. The Sony WH-1000XM6 has a larger Sony WH-1000XM6 headphone battery, so you don’t need to charge it as often as true wireless headphones, which is good — batteries, especially lithium-ion ones, tend to wear out after a few years or about 500 charging cycles. However, by limiting the wear and tear on the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphone battery, you can expect a longer lifespan from the product. If you’re expecting these headphones to last at least a few years, this is great news.

How effective are the Sony WH-1000XM6 noise-canceling headphones? The Sony WH-1000XM6 is a very capable noise-canceling headphone, on par with other high-end ANC headphones. At first glance, the GSP 370 looks very similar to most gaming headsets Sennheiser has put out over the past few years. One major difference between the AirPods 4 and Apple’s previous “regular” AirPods models is the shape of the Apple AirPods 4 earphone shell. The company says it analyzed thousands of ear shapes and more than 50 million data points generated by 3D modeling to optimize the curves of this new earphone. Specifically, Apple adjusted the edge of the lower ear cone and reduced the overall width to provide a more secure and comfortable fit for more people. The company also installed an H2 chip in the earphone stem, making the design more compact and improving airflow and acoustics.

Apple says both AirPods 4 batteries last five hours. If ANC is enabled on the pricier model, playback time drops by one hour. Both AirPods 4 can be charged five times in the charging case, for a total of 30 hours of usable time. Apple explains that all of its nominal AirPods 4 battery data is measured at 50% volume with Spatial Audio turned off. For the ANC version, the company says the estimates also include disabling conversation awareness.

AirPods 4 Features

The AirPods Pro’s H2 chip unlocks several noteworthy advanced features for the AirPods 4. Of course, some of these features are only available on the ANC model, but there are a lot of useful features on the $129 option. On this new entry-level set, you get personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking – an immersive listening experience tailored to your hearing. Sound features also include 48kHz, “cinema-quality” audio for FaceTime, and adaptive EQ. For calls, Apple’s new Voice Isolation feature will provide some extra help when you’re taking calls in less-than-ideal environments.

AirPods 4 have a force sensor on the stem. On both models, you can use it to control music, answer calls, and summon Siri. Of course, both models offer hands-free access to Apple’s assistant. In ANC mode, you can long-press the stem to cycle through noise control modes (ANC and Transparency).

Call Quality

AirPods are a popular choice for hands-free calls, so Apple has improved how they sound during voice and video calls. Voice Isolation, an H2-powered tool that Apple says “isolates and enhances your voice,” is a new feature for AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2. Essentially, it removes background noise so you can sound your best even in noisy environments. AirPods 4 Battery

For most iOS users, 50% volume is not loud enough, so I tested it at around 70%. On a Mac, however, around 50% is enough. Using both settings on the device, and mixing ANC and transparency mode when playing spatial audio and regular content, I had no problem using the noise-canceling AirPods 4 for four hours. The WF-XB700 does share some design language with its predecessor, but the exterior looks almost like a satellite-like dish. While it’s easy to focus on some of the downsides, like the polarizing design, lackluster mids, and lack of noise cancellation, these earbuds have a lot going for them. Honestly, they’re a decent Apple AirPods competitor: they’re priced right, sound good, and even have better battery life.

They’re not perfect, and could even be improved with some simple tweaks, like adding aptX support and adding an auto-pause feature to save Sony WF-XB700 battery life, but even without those features, they’re still our second favorite pair of Sony true wireless earbuds, and worth buying if you want solid sound and long-lastingSony WF-XB700 battery  life.
