The Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed meets many of my criteria. It’s a lightweight, six-button mouse equipped with Razer Hyperspeed Wireless technology, designed specifically for gaming. It feels great in the hand, and I never accidentally pressed a button while clicking. It glides smoothly on the mousepad, but can slip if you press too hard.
While it’s nearly 30 grams heavier than my usual Logitech Superlight (88 grams with the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed Mouse Battery), it doesn’t feel particularly heavy in the hand. In fact, for those who are undecided between a light and heavy mouse, the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed features Razer Gen 2 switches, which we discussed in our Razer Basilisk review.
Combined with Razer’s software, which allows you to program additional buttons, it’s a good choice for those who prefer a simple yet advanced solution. However, it does have some drawbacks. The mouse is flatter than I’m used to, making it feel like I’m practically holding it with my fingertips. I also don’t like the idea of using Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed Mouse Battery to power the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed mouse. I know a single battery can last nearly 300 hours, but I grew up in the ’90s, when batteries were rare. It’s an innate fear I’ve never gotten over; anything powered by standard disposable batteries makes me sick. Because of this power source, this mouse doesn’t have a cable. When the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed Mouse Battery runs out, you have to dig through a drawer or go to a store to recharge it. Furthermore, this mouse doesn’t have RGB lighting.
All in all, the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed is an ideal solution. It’s very reasonably priced (around R1,700) and works on both Mac and PC. It’s perfect for taking on the toughest foes, and it’s wireless. It’s durable, lightweight, has a reasonable number of buttons, and runs on just one AA battery!
